Wouldn’t it be great to know the online habit of your blog readers? You know what they want and simply give it to them. That does make you’re job much easier, doesn’t it?

An initial research conducted by the UC Irvine researchers have provided new insight into blog readers’ online habits and experiences, as well as how they perceive their roles in the blogging communities.

This preliminary research led to some interesting yet logical findings that should also help in your blogging experience:

  • Regular blog reading often becomes more habitual and less content oriented. As with checking emails, reading and skimming through blog post has more or less become an activity to fulfill the personal routine.
  • The timing is not nearly as relevant to position of a blog post. Readers are more likely to read the most recent posts at the top of the screen, and are generally less concerned with the exact age of a post.
  • Blog readers feel the responsibility to make insightful contribution. While blog readers expect quality content from the blogger, they also place pressure on themselves to produce coherent, worthwhile comments in response to good blog posts.

Although the findings may not be new to some of us, but it does affirm that frequent posting of quality content is the way to go for a successful blogging experience in the long run.

If you manage to capture a group of habitual readers, they would expect to see new posting at the top everytime they drop by. And if you want to encourage them to comment on your posting, then you better put some quality content for them to response.

Straight forward isn’t it? But why can’t most bloggers, especially the new bloggers achieve or to maintain successful results? What do you think are the common obstacles?
