The quest for the web traffic is probably top in the list for most marketers. However, some of them, even the top marketers, could have easily over-looked the tiniest detail that can cause them to loose their traffic or potential leads.
So, what am I getting at?
I’m talking about your hard earned traffic leaking out of your website.
Imagine… a lead drop by your blog, read your posting and clicks on one of the links in your blog. Next thing you know, they disappeared! Or rather, your blog disappeared from their screen.
Results?
The lead may not return to your blog again, unless they really wanted to. Which means that you may have lost the mindshare of your visitors or a potential customer.
How did this happen?
One possible reason, you did not set your link to open up the site in a new window, thus by default, it replaces your blog in the same window.
How to fix this?
If you know HTML, you can review all your outgoing links and add in the additional code in red as follow:
<a target=”_blank” href=”www.url.com”>Link</a>
On the other hand, if you’re using editor like the one in Wordpress, you can select the target window for your link as shown.

Just one simple step can make alot of difference to your online business, thus it pays to do a little maintainance to your site, and take note of the little nitty gritty stuffs.
Ensure all your links lead to live sites, else it can be frustrating for your visitors.
